I am beginning to imagine my stage collaborations as naturally progessing into cinemetic explorations -- specifically into the genre of dance on film. Certain ideas and emotions -- based in movement and gesture, with minimal use of words and a tradtional storyline — can be told very powerfully and very clearly in film. I'm now very interested in that type of artistic expression.

Throwing Stones
Dance on Film/Video Project

Description: Throwing Stones explores the nature of conflict and the persistent and elusive pursuit of peace during times of instability and chaos. Through the lens of contemporary youth, Throwing Stones uses gesture, dance, image, symbolism, and the occasional rhyme to (de)construct an urban landscape of aggression, hostility, threat, suspicion, alliance, militarism, territorialism, acceptance, resolution, and balance. The blended movement schematic alternates and juxtaposes the perspective of the personal and the inter-personal with the societal and the global.
